Dr. Uzi Arad has been appointed to head the National Security Council. One of his previous positions included chief of investigations in the Mossad Intelligence Agency.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who established the National Security Council in his previous term as prime minister, plans to significantly expand the scope of the NSC’s operational base, including coordinating intelligence data between military and various intelligence agencies.
The NSC will also play a leading role in determining the government’s policy vis-à-vis state security issues.
