Oketz Troops Go Airborne

Some of the dogs of the IDF’s Oketz K-9 unit are now airborne, having been trained to get into choppers and be airlifted to their next mission. These highly trained dogs live with their handlers, all combat soldiers, and serve a vital service in the military, as was seen in Operation Cast Lead, when dogs entered buildings to scout out the area ahead of soldiers.

Now, the army has successfully added the new ability of the dogs being flown to missions and to take part in civilian search and rescue operations.

Those interested in seeing the dogs perform may visit Winter Stadium in Ramat Gan during Chol Hamoed Pessach.
