The economic crisis has definitely impacted the nation’s larger stores, advertising more aggressive sales ahead of Pessach, seeking to attract yomtov shoppers who are a bit more wary about parting with their money this year than in past years.
Home Center reports a 17% increase in purchases compared to erev Pessach last year, reporting the increase in the design, textile and house wares departments. The company’s management attributes the increase in no small part to the 10 for 10 sale, enabling consumers to purchase 10 items for NIS 10 shekels, including a coffee mug, set of glasses and a tablecloth.
Senior manager Dudi Cohen explains the major sales have brought people into the branches and definitely contributed to the increase in sales. He adds that in general, he has noticed that shoppers this year are seeking out the less expensive gifts.
