The decision by Labor MK Avishai Braverman to accept the cabinet post of Minority Affairs has sparked much criticism among colleagues in Labor who oppose the party’s inclusion in the coalition.
Outgoing Minister of Education Prof. Yuli Tamir was among the outspoken critics, stating that the acceptance of the newly-created post signals that if the price is right, some people are willing to sell out their principles.
Tamir rejected Braverman’s reasoning, that he has decided to implement change and work to promote Labor’s agenda as a minister in the government, insisting the move is nothing more than a sell out and acquiescing to the position of Labor leader Ehud Barak, whose inclusion in the coalition will permit him to continue serving as defense minister.
