MK Ze’ev Elkin, who in the last administration served as a member of Kadima, has been appointed as the chairman of the Likud faction. He earned 20 votes against Danny Dayan, who only received seven votes.
Defending the appointment, Elkin told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that he did not “zig zag” from Kadima to Likud, but remained loyal to his right-wing ideology and when he realized that Kadima moved to the political left, he felt compelled to move to Likud.
