Thousands of kilo bags of pirate sugar are being found in the nation’s grocery stores; bags that the forgers worked hard on designing to closely resemble the popular Badatz Sugat brand that most shoppers would not detect the forgery.
Shoppers are warned to take a good look, realizing the colors, fonts and text match with the one exception, the company name “Sugat” is replaced by “Sugar”, replacing the ‘taf’ with a ‘resh’.
It appears the fraudulent sugar is only found in grocery stores, unable to penetrate into supermarkets where buyers usually only make deals with bonafied wholesalers and manufacturers.
