Tahadiyeh or Hudna Not Ideal Conditions for Deal

“Whoever believes that tahadiyeh or hudna are a platform for negotiations or a base for peace is mistaken” stated Amos Gilad in an appearance before a Herzliya forum on Monday. Gilad is a retired IAF major-general and head of the Political-Security branch of the Defense Ministry.

Gilad added “we mustn’t be blind” and we are compelled to come to the realization that Hamas says what it means, openly, on its website and other forums, and we must take heed of the fact that Hamas does not recognize Israel.

Tahadiyeh and hudna, Arabic words, have infiltrated into the daily Israeli vocabulary, words used for the ceasefire or temporary halt in hostilities.
