Security officials following the announcement of the failed effort to sign a prisoner release deal have ordered stepped-up security in prisons housing terrorists who were expecting to walk the path of freedom in the coming days.
The talk of an “imminent deal” created a buzz in the prisons officials explain. Today, there are 9,000 terrorists classified as ‘security prisoners’ in 15 prisons. 60% of that number is classified as having ‘blood on their hands’.
Among the senor terrorists is Ahmad Sa’adat, who played a major role in the assassination of Israel’s Tourism Minister, Rechavam Ze’evi and Fatah Tanzim commander Marwan Barghouti, who is serving five life sentences for his role in murderous attacks.
Despite increased security and precautions in line with the situation, prison service officials plan to maintain regular daily schedules in the 15 prisons.
