Bereaved Families Call on Gov’t Not to Release Terrorists

Opposite the tent erected outside the Prime Minister’s Office by the parents of Gilad Shalit is a tent manned by bereaved families, who loved ones were murdered in terror attacks. Photos of 180 victims murdered by terrorists released in prisoner exchange deals are on display.

One bereaved father called on the government “to do the correct thing, not the easy thing, opening the prison doors again”.

He explained that after almost 1,000 days in captivity, Gilad Shalit has not been seen by anyone, yet Israel has not retaliated, permitting the terrorists in Israeli prisons “five star conditions, including canteen funds” and much more. He questioned why Israeli prisoners are not given the minimum of standards by Hamas and yet, the government does nothing to pressure Hamas into changing its position.

In response, Noam Shalit, Gilad’s father, stated he has no plans to engage into a debate with bereaved families who have indeed suffered much pain and loss.
