Charedi MK ‘Shaliach of Gedolei Yisroel’ Addresses Knesset

charedi.jpgIn his first address in the 18th Knesset, Yahadut HaTorah MK Menachem Moses opted to address the critical housing shortage in the chareidi community.

His address to the plenum was one of the many from new MKs, during which he stated that it is known he is a shaliach of the chareidi community and therefore a shaliach of Gedolei Yisrael, and as such, he will do his utmost to successfully fulfill his shlichus. He stated he will exhibit a tenacious fervor towards resolving issues close to his heart, including the critical shortage of housing for young chareidi couples, poverty, and the needs towards improving the educational network.

He boasted much experience in these areas, having played a role in establishing old age homes, as well as playing a pivotal role in real estate projects, stating he is well equipped to be a true shaliach today based on his past experience.

Regarding the increasing poverty in Eretz Yisrael, he spoke of the “777”, the 777,000 children classified as under the poverty level; stressing proving relief for them and their families must be among the highest priorities.

He spoke of the need to redirect funding and reclassify priorities towards alleviating the suffering of many and ensuring the next generation has the proper chinuch to provide them with life’s tools.

He stated that regarding housing for young couples, they cannot even afford to rent and a solution must be found. The current realities he explained have compelled an “underground network” which he explained is the fact that many many families, some with children, are living in underground storage areas converted into apartments, lacking windows and light, but nevertheless offering the young couples a temporary housing solution.

He asked that all the MKs “lock hands, coalition and opposition” to address the issues of poverty and the housing shortage, towards implementing a solution.
