According to Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit, his office has learned that Bituach Leumi makes monthly child support payments to 112,000 children, residents of PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas because the mothers, numbering 16,000, are listed as residents of eastern Jerusalem.

Sheetrit made his remarks during the first plenum session of the 18th Knesset, explaining that as a result of the payments from Bituach Leumi, money from Israel is being paid directly to hundreds of PA security forces because their official address is eastern Jerusalem while in actuality, they reside in Shechem, Ramallah and Chevron.
