Perhaps signaling the new policy of US President Barak Obama has begun, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her participation at the donor conference in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday spoke with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem.
Their photo-op handshake and brief discussion may signal the start of a thawing out of relations between Washington and Damascus, in line with President Obama’s statements that he believes conflicts can be worked out by dialogue instead of military force.
Clinton told the press that their exchange of words was nothing more than cordiality and there was no talk of future meetings or discussions.
