While there is still no coalition, Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu has his hands full as no less than ten senior party officials have been promised cabinet posts, in most cases at least, not specifying a specific ministry.
According to some of the senior party veterans, the pressure being applied on Netanyahu by some of his subordinates is somewhat extreme. The list of ten who expect to be a minister in the coming government includes Silvan Shalom, Limor Livnat, Yisrael Katz, Dan Meridor and Benny Begin. Also on the list are five Likudniks who have never served as a minister in the past, including Moshe Ya’alon, Gideon Saar, Gilad Erdan, Dr. Yuval Shteinitz and Moshe Kahlon.
While they have not yet been promised a post, Michael Eitan, Yuli Edelstein and Yossi Peled may also find themselves in the cabinet.
When asked to commit to one post or another, the incoming prime minister has stated we must wait and see exactly what the coalition makeup is and only then can he make the final determination regarding cabinet posts.
