Authorities Warn Truck Drivers Against Increased Arab Hijacking Incidents

According to Israel Police, in the past 2 months, there have been no less than 12 hijackings in PA (Palestinian Authority) areas, including injury to drivers who were robbed in the process of some of the incidents.

The latest victim was over the weekend when a truck driver who advertised his vehicle for sale in a newspaper was contacted by “Muhmad”, who explained he wants to buy the truck. The two arranged to meet at Tapuach Junction in Shomron. Two Arabs were waiting as they agreed. One got into the cab to check the vehicle and in a moment, drove off while the second fled on foot. Other cases in recent weeks involved deliveries and other situations used to entice truck drivers into PA areas.

Superintendent Uri Bumendeal, an intelligence officer in the Chevron district warns much of the business dealings in PA areas are intended towards hijacking Israeli trucks.
