According to meteorologist Tzachi Wachsman, the heavy rains that spread badly-needed water to all areas of the country during the past two Shabbosim will be with us for a while, stating with a modicum of certainty that “the winter isn’t over yet”.
Rainfall continued through the night on motzei Shabbos and the precipitation is expected to dissipate during the day Sunday. Nevertheless states Wachsman, more rain is to be expected, showing optimism for Chodesh Adar as the winter is winding down.
Heavy rainfall was measured in the northern and central areas during Shabbos, with waves in the Mediterranean reaching 7 meters in height. Flooding was reported in the Judean Hills, and snow accumulations on Mt. Hermon were over a half meter (19.5 inches).
Some other cities recorded impressive rainfall too, including Haifa (73mm), Netanya (50mm), Tel Aviv (60mm), Yerushalayim (64mm), Kiryat Gat (54mm) and the Golan Heights and Galil areas measured between 60-100mm.
