Netanyahu to Meet Livni on Erev Shabbos

bbn1.jpgIncoming Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday will meet for a second time with Kadima leader Tzipi Livni in what may be a last attempt to persuade the leader of the largest party to enter the forming coalition government.

While some Kadima leaders are willing to enter into serious negotiations with Likud, such as the party’s second in command, Shaul Mofaz, the atmosphere in the party appears one of preparing for the opposition.

Livni is obliging the prime minister designate, perhaps just to fulfill her responsibilities as the head of the largest party, but she has made her position clear, stating she does not see how Kadima can enter the forming coalition without compromising the party’s principles and as such, she cannot condone such a move.

  1. How can Israel be governed when it has a government with “co-leaders” who disagree and spend more time schmoozing and using diplomacy with each other than with leading the nation?
