IDF Spokesman’s Office reserve duty officer Captain Ron Edelheit was targeted in shoe attack by anti-Israel protestors in Amsterdam.
Edelheit was in Amsterdam to give lectures and present the IDF’s position regarding Operation Cast Lead. Following threats to his life, the location of the speaking engagement was changed but during his address, three pro-Arab demonstrators entered and threw shoes at him, hitting him in the leg.
Edelheit, originally from Holland, was pleased to see the protestors were placed under arrest. He warned that this time they used shoes, but next time, they may throw knives and perhaps escalate to guns.
He did maintain his sense of humor however, stating “I am in good company. They threw two shoes at Bush but four at me”.
