Chief PA (Palestinian Authority) negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat announced that without a guarantee there will be no new construction in communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron from the new Israeli government, there will be no “political process”.
Erekat added that in essence, Israel’s refusal to discuss the future of Jerusalem, the “Palestinian refugees” and the 1967 borders has brought the “peace process” to a halt.
Meeting with a Belgian diplomatic official, Erekat was quoted in the daily al-Quds al-Arabi as stating that without these basic guarantees, along with an Israeli commitment to push towards the ‘two-state solution’, there is no political process between Israel and the PA.
As he set out for Washington on Sunday, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa announced the Arabs do not trust Israel, explaining Jerusalem is not making decisions or acting as a neighbor genuinely interested in peace. In addition he explained; Israel’s ill treatment of the Palestinians does not encourage the Arab nations to change their attitude towards the Israeli government.
Moussa added the Arab aspiration to achieve peace with Israel is not an open-ended offer that will be on the table forever.
