Dvir [ben Leah Bar-Chai] on Sunday was transported from Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva to Beit Levenstein Rehabilitation Hospital for continued care. The young Golani soldier was listed as the most seriously wounded in the war.
Dr. Moti Klein, who heads the Department of Intensive Care Medicine in Soroka, stated Dvir underwent a series of surgical procedures and treatments and is ready for the long road towards total rehabilitation with Hashem’s help.
Dvir does open his eyes but has not yet returned to lucidity and hangs in a semi conscious state. His parents, Tzviki and Leah are continuously at his bedside, not losing hope and continuing to recite tehillim and tefillos on his behalf.
Bar-Chai carried an orange flag with him from Gush Katif, which he planned to raise in Gaza upon his return during Cast Lead. The left-wing was quick to condemn the “extremist soldier”, “a settler,” who was learned to have the flag among his personal possessions but after he was wounded and became a hero, they changed their tone.
Prior to slipping into a coma from his injuries and hypovolemic shock, Bar-Chai was seen on TV holding up his arm with his fingers signaling a “V” for victory.
Dvir’s dad Tviki is the head of the Southern Chevron Hills Regional Council, and a prominent figure in the settlement movement.
