Police on Sunday arrested a resident of Yerushalayim’s Ezras Torah neighborhood, whose cellular telephone records show he made calls to R’ Meir Porush. Police believe the calls were harassing calls, not welcome telephone conversations.
Recent calls included foul language and threats against the high-profile chareidi official who during recent months has been the subject of much opposition pertaining to his failed Jerusalem mayoral race. The investigation is being conducted by both Israel Police and Knesset Guard agents.
Responding to the report, R’ Porush explained he is not aware of the ongoing activities of police, stating his goal is not to have people arrested but to bring an end to the harassing phone calls.
