Minister of Public Security Avi Dichter on Sunday announced that Israel must address the ongoing weapons smuggling in Gaza no less seriously than it addresses rocket attacks.
Speaking to colleagues during the weekly cabinet meeting, Dichter stated that efforts by Hamas to rehabilitate the underground weapons smuggling system are continuing and weapons smuggling has continued following Operation Cast Lead. The minister added the Egyptian response to weapons smuggling is insufficient and Israel must take respond to the situation before rocket fire resumes into southern cities as was the case before the Gaza War.
