Noam Shalit, the father of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, has released statements calling for increased pressure on Hamas towards obtaining his son’s release.
“The operation in Gaza resulted in a one-time window of opportunity,” stated Mr. Shalit in a Thursday meeting with Quartet envoy Tony Blair. He called on Blair to apply pressure on Hamas towards achieving this goal, and in the meantime, he is seeking to compel Hamas to permit a Red Cross representative to see his son.
Blair promised to work towards Gilad’s release, agreeing the present situation provides is a window of opportunity for a deal towards Gilad’s release.

Even though it is late, has the Olmert administration thought about:
1 – No Red Cross visits to Arab prisoners until we get the visits to Gilad Shalit;
2 – Only basic rations to Arab prisoners until we know for sure that Gild is getting proper kosher nourishment;
3 – No visitors to Arab prisoners until we get full visits to Gilad;
4 – Full competent medical care for Gilad before further such treatment for Arab prisoners;
5 – Full prayer and other religious accommodations for Gilad before Arab prisoners get such;
6 – No disclosures to the media about Gilad by his captors unless Israeli authorities get info first in full.
