President Shimon Peres on Wednesday spoke with US President Barak Obama, who congratulated Israel on a successful election and the democratic process that dominates life in Israel.
Mr. Peres explained the process to the American leader, the meetings he will hold next week with party leaders and the mandate that will be given to one of the parties towards forming a coalition government.
Mr. Peres also explained the differences between the American and Israeli electoral system in an effort to clarify a number of matters for the new US leader.
