Many Prisoners Unwilling to Pay to Vote

6,500 of the 12,000 eligible voters in the nation’s prisons exercised that right, representing 55%.

Officials report that at least 25% of the eligible voters declined the privilege after learning the Interior Ministry demanded they pay NIS 110 for an identity card to permit them to vote in the general election for a prime minister and the 18th Knesset.
