Not to worry – when the Olmerts leave the Prime Minister’s Residence in two months or so they will not be homeless. They will move into their new home in a community in the Jerusalem corridor, a home they recently purchased for $1 million.
According to the report in The Marker, the two-story home is built on an underground parking space, sitting on a one-half dunam (1/4 acre) plot.
After the next prime minister is sworn in, the current prime minister, Ehud Olmert, may remain in the official residence another month. Therefore, it is likely the Olmerts will be in their current abode for another two months. Their new home, in the final stages of construction, should be ready in time for the move.
ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) officials have already visited the community and the home, beginning to address security arrangements following Olmert’s stepping down from office.
In addition to the Olmert’s latest acquisition, they own two additional homes, a two bedroom apartment in the Shenkin area of Tel Aviv, which they purchased for $320,000 and a home on Carmiya Street in the German Colony area of Jerusalem, which was purchased for $1.2 million.
