Some 1,000 people were on hand motzei Shabbos for the main election kenos in Tamir Hotel on Jerusalem’s Golda Meir Boulevard. Others took part in the event in different areas around Eretz Yisrael. Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita, Rav Shteinman Shlita and the Belzer Rebbe Shlita arrived shortly before 9:00PM.
HaGaon Rav Yosef Efrati read the kol korei to the tzibur. He reminded the audience of the words of Rav Shach ZT”L who stated elections is not a time for “shev v’al ta’aseh”. Rav Efrati explained that anyone who does not get out and vote in essence is voting for a secular party.
Gedolei Yisrael are instructing the tzibur to vote for Yahadut HaTorah, Rav Efrati explained, and therefore, one is compelled to act accordingly and not to vote for any other party.
The next speaker was Rav Shteinman Shlita, followed by the Belzer Rebbe Shlita, who because of a request from Rav Elyashiv, spoke in Hebrew instead of his usual custom of speaking in Yiddish.
“We must remain firm regarding issues of Torah” stated the Rebbe, “which is accomplished by our shlichim. Mordechai’s great cry was not to Achashverosh, but to the tzibur, as is the case here…”
The addresses from Tamir were broadcast to a number of areas around Eretz Yisrael, including two places in Bnei Brak, in Modi’in Illit, Ashdod, Haifa, Bet Shemesh and Elad.

Voting Shas is perfectly acceptable-they are concerned that a charedi party be in the government. I heard this personally from a Yahadut HaTorah rep.
any chance of some pics?
Chazal teach us that HaShem will always send us such great g’dolim when Am Yisrael needs them.
How could I know whether to vote? Baruch haShem I have Maran…
The main issue is go out and VOTE no matter what!!
It does matter what!
could anybody verify what the rachmastrivka rebbe of yerusholayim is saying? why is he missing from everywhere?
Goodbye,as far as I can remember his father, the previous holy Rebbe of Rachmistrivke always supported the Agudah. I think today’s Rebbe, unlike his predecessors, has taken on a “kanoish” approach re: the “medinah”. Confusing, isn’t it.
yes, galitzyaner, it is. i was just wondering if there was something more about these particular elections which was keeping him from supporting aguda now…
Goodbye, I think the gevirem from London and Vienna butter the bread thicker to those who follow the “Shitta”
