The narrowing gap in weekend polls are reason for optimism for Kadima leader Tzipi Livni, but cause for concern for Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu is concerned that earlier polls signaling a sure win for Likud may lead to voter complacency, especially with forecasters predicting a rainy Election Day.
Speaking at an election rally for the non-Jewish community, in Tamra, Livni called on supporters to get out and vote on Election Day, explaining the importance of every single ballot.
Members and supporters of the Balad Arab party protested Livni’s appearance in the Arab municipality, accusing her of taking part in the war crimes in Operation Cast Lead, the counter-terrorism military offensive in Gaza.
Livni stated, “There are some who say we are a Jewish or democratic state but I do not accept this. We do not need to decide one or the other, and we can be a Jewish democratic nation that sees to all its citizens, Jews and non-Jews alike”.
