Finance Minister (Kadima) Roni Bar-On told Galei Tzahal’s (Army Radio) Razi Barkai on Wednesday morning that while there may be many who are ruling out entering into a coalition government with Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beitenu Party, he is not among them.
Bar-On stated that he worked side-by-side with Lieberman when he was the minister of strategic affairs during Ehud Olmert’s tenure, describing Lieberman as a “thinker” and a man with “understanding” who is a “doer” and basically is one with whom one may work and achieve significant accomplishments.
Bar-On stated that from his perspective, he does not rule out sitting in a coalition with any party, leaving doors open, adding that to the best of his knowledge, the others on the Yisrael Beitenu list as indeed Zionists and qualified people capable of joining a coalition with Kadima.
In short, Lieberman described Lieberman as a “team player” but added that while some of his platform is not objectionable, Yisrael Beitenu cannot believe that all of its positions will be accepted in any coalition agreement.
