There are many questions surrounding the chareidi effort to save Yahadut HaTorah in the upcoming elections, including if Maran Rav Shteinman Shlita will be attending the Wednesday evening rally in the Beis Yisrael Hall in Jerusalem. There are those on both sides who are certain regarding the Gadol HaDor’s intentions, but in a few hours, it will be known to all without any doubt.
Tensions preceding elections is not a new phenomenon in the Yahadut HaTorah community, with splits between Degel and Agudah being regular events, but this year, unlike other elections, the tzibur is not showing a commitment to get out and vote, while some are voting but may opt to support Shas, also a chareidi party, thereby fulfilling their obligation.
Adding additional tensions is the knowledge that factions from Satmar, which has a major yeshiva across the street from the hall, promises not to permit the event to take place since it opposes participation in the “Zionist elections”.

Due to the Petirah of Harav Yosef Yisreol Isrealson Z”l (80) Chasan Muran Harav Yosef Shulem Elyashiv Shlita the Asifa was pushed off to Sunday
LOOKS LIKE THE DIVISIONS WITHIN THE HAREIDI COMMUNITY WILL SABOTAGE THEIR PROSPECTS FOR SUCCESS.
Why do Satmar even live in Israel at all? The medinah they hate paves their roads, provides the ability for electricity, gas, and telephone service, protects them against terrorists, has a fire department, police force, and picks up their garbage. It is so ridiculous for anyone to hate Israel. AS much as we are not thrilled with the secular Jews and their in fighting and anti Torah values, it is at least not the same chilul Hashem as the infighting within leadership of the frum circles. It is obviously min haShomayim that Hashem saw fit to make the secular Jewish leaders in power so we in the Torah world don’t hang our heads in shame with the internal politics.
The British did all that too, about as well as the medinah does. They live there because Eretz Yisroel belongs to all Jews, zionist or not. And many of them were there before the zionists came, so why should they move?
Here is a declaration of loyalty to the Torah that I have written in connection with the elections (and received approbation from a Poseik). If you agree with it, please disseminate it, if you don’t I’m interested to hear why not.
I hereby declare that even though I take a particular position with regard to Israeli politics, elections, and related issues (as I have been instructed by my Rabbis and teachers), and act in accordance with this position and try to persuade others of its rightness, it is in no way my intention or desire to allow my holding this position to cause any form of personal discord between myself and any other Jew, even those who hold with positions that differ from or are opposed to mine, or who are affiliated with groups and organizations that differ or are opposed to any group or organization with which I am affiliated. To the contrary, l hereby declare my firm resolve and determination to fulfill the precious mitzva of loving all my fellow Jews and of treating them with all the love and respect and bestowing on them all the forms of chessed that are required our holy and beloved Torah, however they may hold concerning all the issues mentioned above, even those that are most dear to me and however strenuously we may oppose each other on those issues aud their practical implications, or whatever affiliations they may have that may differ from mine. In the merit of our fulfilling the mitzvos of the holy Torah, may HaKadosh Boruch Hu have compassion on His people and bring the Geula Shleima speedily in our days.
btw,
The kennes was postponed due to the levaya of HaRav Yisraelzon ZT”L the son-in-law of Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita. The niftar was a Rov in Rechovot.
The kennes was to take place in the afternoon, bein hasedorim, as to minimize bitul torah. The kinnus will probably take place Motzaei Shabbos. If you have more info on the niftar, who said hespedim, etc. please post.
Thank you.
Why not have the rally for UTJ at another spot not across the street from the Satmar anti-s?
this report is total “shtuyot”
ofcourse rav shteinman [may he be well] will attend & speak !!!!!!!!
‘satmar’ promises? just who is ‘satmar’ that is saying this? some bochurim? they have a valid shita; however throughout history the satmat kehilo has been respectful of legitimate opposing opinions(NOT zionists, I mean reb ahron, the brisker rov, ger and others). there’s not a chance they would break their mesorah and try to stop an asifa for the elections – ridiculous. this must be some balhabus or kid.
I think that people should take advantage of the delay to move the kinnus away from the Satmar building. Even if you don’t agree with Satmar, their position is based on a Torah-dik perspective. BTW, there are members of Satmar who don’t accept many of the “perks” of Israeli citizenship, even at an inconvenience or a financial loss. We should be respectful of their way of thinking even if it isn’t our own…that includes in the comments we make on this website.
