IAF Strikes Gaza Following Barrage Of Rockets & Mortars

iaf3.jpgJust hours after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert vowed a “disproportionate” response to the rockets and mortars fired from Gaza, the IAF bombed multiple targets in Khan Yunis and Rafah late Sunday evening.

There were no reports of any casualties.

Hamas released a statement that the IAF hit a “Hamas security target” in the Gaza Strip.

Witnesses told local media that the site had been evacuated, apparently after Israel telephoned warnings to Palestinians in Gaza to leave any buildings where weapons were located.

Hours before the IAF attack, Palestinians in the town of Rafah received recorded phone messages warning those who live near weapons tunnels or storage facilities to evacuate their homes at once.

“Everybody who is near any place used for terror or weapon storage facility or tunnels, should evacuate the area immediately,” the voice message warned, according to witnesses.

At least 15 Kassam rockets and mortar shells struck Israel on Sunday. One rocket landed between two kindergartens in the Eshkol region, one struck Sderot, two others hit open areas nearby and a fourth hit the Sdot Negev region.

The IDF has not yet released any statement of tonight’s air-strikes.

  1. Duh!

Calling the chayos to evacuate before a strike is not disproportionate.

Striking and then calling them to evacuate is disproportionate.

  2. Disproportionate!

Imagine. A terrorist phones in to evacuate the bus he’s about to bomb, the plaza he’s about to explode himself in, the school he’s about to attack!

  3. How about permanent evacuation for all Gazans so they’ll never be bombed again. Maybe they should be sent to Syria or Iran
