SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Today is day 15 of the Gaza ceasefire.

*Today, Sunday, is Gilad Shalit’s 952nd day in Hamas captivity.

*A bus traveling in Shomron in the Wadi Charamiya area north of Ofrah was fired upon on motzei Shabbos. Baruch Hashem, there were no injuries.

*26 PA residents were apprehended hiding on a gas tanker truck that stopped for inspection at the Shuafat Checkpoint on motzei Shabbos. The driver and illegal PA residents were taken in for questioning.

*Motzei Shabbos: Two Arabs who threw rocks at border police in Abu Dis, on Jerusalem’s northern border, were apprehended. No injuries.

*Shomron Motzei Shabbos: In the shooting attack near Itamar, a bullet hit the coat of a soldier who Baruch Hashem was uninjured in the attack.

*Motzei Shabbos: Rocks were thrown as vehicles near Kedumim. No injuries.

*885 PA residents illegally inside Green Line Israel were apprehended by border police in the past week. 30 of them were placed under arrest along with 13 Israeli employers and 20 people providing them with transportation.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Egypt has begun electronic surveillance along Philadelphi Road including cameras and sensors, Egyptian officials report, explaining the new measures are intended to halt weapons smuggling.

*A bus carrying Arab passengers was involved in an accident with a truck on Shabbos afternoon at Giti Avisar Junction. One person was killed and some 23 injured; some seriously. Ambulances transported victims to hospitals in Israel and the PA areas. IDF choppers assisted in transport as well. The preliminary police investigation indicates the truck failed to yield the right of way to the bus.

*Border police on motzei Shabbos used rubber bullets and other riot-control adjuncts in response to a violent anti-security fence protest a Na’alin.

*Meretz: In essence, Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu is [Yisrael Beitenu leader Avigdor] Lieberman without a beard.

*Tel Aviv – Jerusalem train service resumes on Sunday morning following two weeks of infrastructure work which resulted in interruptions in service.
