According to the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, the death toll published by the PA (Palestinian Authority) from Operation Cast Lead is an inflated number and the reports of large numbers of civilians killed by Israeli strikes are simply untrue.
The report quotes a physician from Gaza’s Shifa Hospital, who wished to remain anonymous. It speaks of 500-600 dead, most people 16-23 sent to the battlefield by Hamas, explaining the terrorist organization basically sent them to their deaths.
The report goes on to cites statements from journalists who questioned Hamas as to why they insist on publishing exaggerated figures. Residents from Tal al-Hawa are also quoted as stating the young Hamas terrorists were instructed to fire at their homes to later report the damage came from Israeli fire. There are already statements comparing the lies emerging from Hamas to the PA’s (Palestinian Authority) claims of the past pertaining to an IDF massacre in Jenin, reporting to the world that 1,500 people were killed during Operation Defensive Shield when in fact that number was 54, of which 45 were armed terrorists and the remainder civilians.
In the meantime, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon continues to condemn Israel and continues to accept Hamas figures of over 1,300 dead and over 5,000 wounded.

The only surprise here is that the newspaper printed this. Let’s see how many follow their lead.
It’s all in Hashem’s hands. The fact is that Hamas’ support among the Arabs has gone up as a result of the war and that they would probably win big in any elections. Israel has a choice between the PA, whom all the Arabs see as being greedy, weak and corrupt and dislikeable for cooperating with the Jews, or Hamas, which has done a lot more for the Arab hamon am and not stolen money intended for them, but who isn’t afraid to stand up against the Jews and thus gets its population into destructive wars. Is there any third alternative? Only Hashem can help.

I happen to read Italian and I know that it is one of the few unbiased and fair newspapers left in Europe when it comes to the Middle East situation.
Is anyone surprised that hamas lied (what else is new?!) about the numbers? I wonder how many of those people that died became alive when the camera light went off or died many times over?
