Sarah Avitan: A First Hand Report of the Terror Attack

shot.jpg8:10AM IL: Sarah Avitan, whose husband Moshe [Refael ben Aliza Chaya], 23, was seriously wounded in a terrorist drive-by shooting attack on the Elon Road, tells what occurred on Tuesday night, close to 9:00pm.

The couple was traveling from their home in Yishuv Shvut Rachel in the Benjamin Regional Council district of Shomron to another area community, Kochav HaShachar.

“To the best of my recollection, a vehicle passed us while opening fire. I saw Moshe was hit in the head and my first thoughts were to get out of the area and get to a place for assistance,” explains Sarah.

Sarah managed to get into the driver’s seat and traveled another 5 minutes or so, stopping at the sentry post to the entrance of the community. From there, they the emergency responders were summoned and Sarah tried her best to stop the bleeding and maintain an airway for her seriously wounded husband.

Moshe, accompanied by Sarah, was transported to the trauma center of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital by chopper. Sarah explains that Baruch Hashem there does not appear to be any neurological damage, but doctors are fearful that his eyesight in both eyes may be compromised as a result of his injuries. This morning, Wednesday, Moshe’s condition is described as stable.

The couple has five children. Please daven for Moshe Refael ben Aliza Chaya.
