Southern Schools to Resume Regular Classes

Ministry of Education officials report that as a result of the ceasefire in Gaza, schools in rocket-firing range will resume normal schedules, stating students will however remain very in tune to IDF Homefront Command regulations as to responding to attacks.

Ministry Director-General Shlumit Amichai instructed schools to dedicate the early hours of the day to addressing the anxieties and emotional realities of the students, who are returning from a difficult situation.

Officials of southern institutions of higher learning have already announced that in all likelihood, the semester will be extended to make up for the lost time, most likely a week to two.

11th and 12th graders in Beersheva, Ashdod and Ashkelon returned to their classrooms on Monday, holding class in secure areas only as per the decision pending a reevaluation of the situation by IDF Homefront Command officials.

Beersheva is moving back to classes gradually. In Sderot on Monday, some classes resumed as was the case for 11th and 12th graders in Ofakim.

Homefront Command commander, Major-General Yair Golan is expected to announce a relaxation of restrictions as the ceasefire is adhered to by Hamas.
