For the parents of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, the ceasefire which seems to have ignored their son is not a welcome reality, with Noam and Aviva fearing this may be the last opportunity to obtain his release before chas v’sholom he becomes another Ron Arad.
The Shalits met with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Monday to express their growing concerns and in the hope of hearing some encouraging news.
Livni told Israel Radio on Monday morning that from the day Gilad was taken captive, over 2.5 years ago, her position remains the same – that Israel sent the soldier on his mission and remains compelled to obtain his release. She stressed that with time, the government’s determination to obtain his release becomes increasingly tenacious, but declined to detail anything in public.

But we have to daaven that the powers that be in the IDF (and elsewhere) are given the Chochma, Bina and Da’as (or Dai’ah, Bina, and Haskail)…
to do what is best for the individuals who suffer, as well as the Klal.
So many were killed trying to end the terror, and gain control.
May Hashem hear our tefilos.
