Mirya Kubneskiya, 78, has been enduring the cold and the elements for about two weeks, since a rocket slammed into her home in Sderot and blew out windows and destroyed her kitchen. For his Holocaust survivor, her fears do not surround her own safety, but for the safety of her companions, her cats.
She explains that due to the attacks, her caretaker has left and she is compelled to tend to her own needs, but the fear for her cats’ safety seem to override all else in her life at present.
She explains that she has placed plastic over the broken window, and she does not have a safe room so when she hears the warning, she enters the bathroom.
Social workers explain they are simply overwhelmed and they cannot possibly tend to the needs of all the victims. They add that generally, Mirya had a smile on her face and it is just not right that a Holocaust survivor must now endure this alone, fearing for her life and her cats, without any agency stepping in to provide her an immediate solution.
Anyone wishing to assist Mirya may telephone 03-525-7888.
