2:00AM IL: News Update from Eretz Yisrael


**A number of Israeli and Jewish women reportedly entered the Israeli Consulate in Toronto, refusing to leave in protest against the IDF operation in Gaza.

**No one is publicly mentioning that Gilad Shalit is included as a precondition towards a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. There has been no Hamas response to a request made in Syria by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is seeking proof that the soldier is still alive.

**Hamas is preventing trucks from entering Gaza carrying 500 million liters of fuel.

**Wednesday’s southern area visiting VIP was opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu, who traveled to Ashkelon. He was whisked to a safe area when sirens sounded. He also visited wounded in Barzilai Hospital.

**Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik on Wednesday visited the IDF wounded in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.

**Dati Leumi youths on Wednesday evening began visiting Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva to pick up the spirits of the wounded soldiers.
