One of the many perils for IDF soldiers operating in Gaza is Hamas suicide terrorists, gunmen who are willing to blow themselves up to kill soldiers with them. In one case on Tuesday, such a terrorist was identified and he was shot dead before he was able to approach soldiers. The gunfire directed at him detonated a bomb he was wearing, resulting in a soldier sustaining light injuries.

In addition, there are booby-trapped buildings as well as roadside mines and other deadly obstacles waiting for the IDF force which is seeking to end rocket attacks into southern Israel.
