President Shimon Peres on Monday traveled to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva to visit the soldiers wounded in Operation Cast Lead. The presence of Mr. Peres brought smiles to many faces, patients, family members and hospital staff.
One soldier, Yoad Kaplan told the president that the combat medic was at his side seconds after he was wounded and he has been receiving the royal treatment ever since, from army and medical personnel.
Yael Cohen told the nation’s number one citizen that Hashem is looking out for her and her husband. They live on the 6th floor of the Ashdod building hit with a Katyusha rocket last week, compelling all the neighbors to relocate due to the serious structural damage. Both her and her husband escaped injuries.
On Sunday, in day of the infantry phase of the Operation Cast Lead, her husband Rafi, an IDF company commander was seriously wounded in his abdomen. Following surgery, his condition has significantly improved and he is no longer in life-threatening danger. Rafi waits to heal enough to head back to his soldiers. Yael is thankful for the miracles that Hashem has bestowed upon them.
