Minister of Pensioner Affairs Rafi Eitan during Sunday’s cabinet meeting called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to consider a discussion on postponing the general elections for the 18th Knesset for six weeks. The minister stated now is not the time for elections.
The general election is scheduled for February 10th and due to the outbreak of the war, all campaigning and election-related activities have been placed on hold.
Olmert stated “this is not the time to enter into politics,” and he rejected the request.
In the meantime, MK (Tzomet) Elchanan Glazer is working to obtain signatures of 25 MKs to compel a special plenum session towards postponing the election for three months.
