22:30PM IL: PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is calling for an urgent session of the United Nations Security Council, as was expected.

Deputy PM Eli Yishai: Speaking on Channel 2 News on motzei Shabbos, the minister stated he abstained regarding the vote to order ground forces into Gaza, stating he prefers not to detail his reasons at present, explaining the call of the hour is “unity” and standing behind IDF soldiers, “who must dismantle Hamas, to make sure Hamas no longer exists in Gaza. What will take place later, who will run things and so-forth, is another matter.”

When asked about the deaths of “innocent Palestinians in Gaza”, Yishai stated, “better that they get hit than our citizens. A rocket is not exactly a cameo (good luck charm) bringing sgula for long life.”
