Livni Rejects French Calls for Ceasefire

idftank.jpgForeign Minister Tzipi Livni on Thursday told French President Nicolas Sarkozy that Jerusalem rejects Paris’ calls for a humanitarian ceasefire, explaining there is no humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and therefore, there is no need for a humanitarian pause in the IDF offensive.

Livni furnished French officials with information regarding Israel’s efforts to permit humanitarian aide into Gaza, stating Israel can no longer tolerate the threat to the southern areas of the country from the Hamas regime in Gaza.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner told Livni his country views Hamas a terror organization, calling on Hamas to halt rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel.

Remaining firm, Livni defended Israel right to protect its citizens, stating the military offensive will continue.

  1. Israel does not have the “right” to protect its citizens.
It has the obligation to do so even when in the course of doing so the other side suffers losses on its civilians.
And let’s not forget that the residents of Gaza voted for the Hamas in free election and are to take all responsibilities from their governments decisions.

  2. the u.s. can still veto anything against israel unless we are dealing jackson and carter for those of who remember those days of past.

  3. #4- “France can go to the UN and say that Israel has no interest in peace”
First of all, I don’t think the UN’s opinion will change if France does not go to them. Second, I don’t think the Israelis could care less for what the anti-semitic UN thinks of them.
