Grad Katyusha rockets struck Beersheva and the Ofakim area again on Wednesday night. Kassam rockets were directed at the Greater Sderot Area closer to the Gaza border. At least 68 Kassam and Katyusha rockets were fired into southern Israel on Wednesday. Five people were lightly injured and over 50 people were treated for hysteria. Schools remain closed today, Thursday, up to a 40km (24 miles) distance from the Gaza border.
** Safe rooms have been incorporated into residential building since 1991. According to Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, 1/3 of the housing in Israel is equipped with safe rooms today, which he explains is the optimal response, preferred over the communal bomb shelters.
