Avi Maimon is a resident of Sderot, one who has been very busy of late. He is a local fireman.
When he arrived home after his shift, he did not wait for a Color Red alert, but instructed the family to go to sleep in the safe room, which he has been constructing himself. He explained he purchased a concrete cutter towards achieving that goal, unwilling to wait for the government to complete the project.
As the family entered the safe room the Color Red siren began alerting of an incoming attack. Numerous explosions were heard but one was very loud and they felt the rumble in the safe room, which Avi explained does not yet have a door.
When they emerged, they saw a rocket landed about 4 meters (yards) from them, destroying the living room and a good part of their home.
Avi explains he is thankful his family is well. Using his work experience he immediately disconnected the electric and gas, to prevent a fire or explosion. His children were transported to a center for treatment of anxiety.
The family will spend tonight, Tuesday, in Beersheva, and they are hopeful authorities will soon find them a home until their home can be repaired and rendered inhabitable once again.
