Turkey Condemns Gaza Operation

turkey.jpgIsrael’s close ally Turkey, has joined the Arab world in condemning the ongoing military operation in Gaza.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan came out strongly against the military action, adding he is suspending his involvement as a mediator in talks between Israel and Syria.

The prime minister used strong language, calling the operation “a crime against humanity”, adding Syria is unwilling to maintain the indirect dialogue with Israel in response to the Gaza action.

The Prime Minister’s Office expressed sorrow over the remarks, adding that of late, Damascus has strengthened its ties with Hamas and has ignored calls from Israel to break ties with the ‘axis of evil’ towards normalized relations with Jerusalem.

Hundreds protested outside the Israeli Embassy in Turkey against the military operation.

In a related matter, the Israel Foreign Ministry denies an al-Jazeera report that protestors broke through the gate of the Israeli Embassy in Britain during a protest. The Foreign Ministry does confirm however that security for diplomatic missions around the world is being increased.

  1. #3, While there are millions of arabs in Turkey, the population there is nearly 100% Muslim, so the statement of 12786 still holds up; that Turkey wants to show unity with the arabs. Also, sometimes the terms are loosely interchanged (arab/muslim) and there are times where it is ok and others where you have to be more specific as in the term antisemitism which literally should include other semitic peoples, but it is understood to mean anti-Jewish.

  2. Your credibility suffers when you put a picture of an actual turkey next to a story about the country Turkey. It might be a CH H too.
