11-year-old Brian Navro did not know if he would ever see Chanukah candles again, losing his vision due to a degenerative retina disease. He told his friends that one day, he hopes to see Chanukah candles again and thanks to his shaliach, Dr. Yaron Lang, he is now seeing the Chanukah light again.
Brian underwent a successful procedure performed by Dr. Lang, who heads the ophthalmology department in Afula’s Ha’emek Hospital; he is once again capable of seeing.
Brian’s vision was deteriorating and this year, he lost it completely. About two months ago, he and his parents moved to Israel from Colombia, settling in Upper Nazareth.
Dr. Lang states Brian’s case is indeed rare, that one loses sight in both eyes, explaining usually the disease effects only one eye severely. His mother explained that when they sought medical assistance in Colombia, they were told doctors cannot do anything for their son.

Which specific retina disease was it? Would the procedure help someone with macular degeneration?
