Members of the Likud Party on Monday visited the Golan Heights as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, seeking to advance talks with Damascus.
Leading the delegation was premiership hopeful MK Binyamin Netanyahu, who stated a Likud government will not withdraw from the Golan Heights, accusing the current administration of gesturing towards peace agreements in the hope of covering up its failures during recent years.
“We do not know what Prime Minister Olmert will say today in Ankara behind closed doors, but we are here today and openly declare to Am Yisrael and the entire world that the Government of Israel under the Likud will not leave the Golan but will maintain it, a strategic and security asset to the nation,” Netanyahu stated.
Taking part in the visit were Likud hopefuls Moshe Ya’alon, Gideon Saar, Gilad Erdan, Yossi Peled, Limor Livnat, Miri Regev and Tzipi Chutuvli.
Peled, a former IDF northern district commander stated the Golan is an “oxygen lifeline for the state and anyone who thinks we can make do without the Golan assists national suicide, a move that would result in an existential threat to the nation.”

Sure. And then when he’s PM and the USA and the world body pressures him, he’ll come up with some stupid reasoning why he has to change his mind. No politician keeps his word more so an Israeli politician. There aren’t any idealogical tziyonim anymore. Let’s hope Moshiach comes before they totally distroy Israel with their stupid & convoluted policies of pandering to the arabs.
Finally a politician stands up and speaks some sense.
