Child Welfare Council Calls to Take Addicts Away from Children

The head of Israel’s Child Welfare Council, Dr. Yitzchak Kadmon is calling on the Education Ministry to compel the municipality of Lod to immediate cease the employ of convicted drug addicts and burglars as escorts for school children on buses.

Kadmon explains that he investigated the allegations, and Lod City Hall confirms the accuracy of the information, alarming Kadmon and prompting him to demand the immediate dismissal of the convicted criminals. The council states that only people without a criminal past are suitable for employment as escorts for children on school buses. Kadmon acknowledges the importance of rehabilitating former criminals but this is not the job of children he explains, adding they must be distanced from such people.
