Olmert Off to Turkey to Push Syrian Agenda

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday is traveling to turkey to meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is the middleman in ongoing preliminary diplomatic gestures between Israel and Syria.

Olmert does not even enjoy the support of members of his Kadima Party, who stated the prime minister is the head of a transition government, and as such, he does not have the right to commit the incoming administration to any deals. They and other cabinet members continue to call on the prime minister to abandon his one-man efforts until he steps down from office, but Olmert appears to be carrying on business as usual.
