AG Mazuz on Discrimination Against Chareidim & Arabs

During a meeting of a ministerial committee discussing discrimination against the Arab sector, addressing the low number of Arab employees in the public sector, Attorney General Menachem Mazuz expressed his opposition to a bill intended on reversing the situation.

A bill intended to correct the problem for Arabs is being held up due to the opposition of chareidi lawmakers, who insist the bill must also address discrimination against chareidim, citing the number of chareidim in government and the public sector reflects the unacceptable situation.

Mazuz explained that he opposes the reverse discrimination attempt to correct the situation in the Arab and chareidi sectors, further adding in the chareidi sector, unlike with the Arabs, he is uncertain if they face obstacles, but more likely there is only limited interest in the community in entering the public sector, explaining their low numbers.
